Dental Insurance for Seniors Now Available Through ASBA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Chicago, IL - February 3, 2010 - The American Senior Benefits Association (ASBA), continues to focus on the health and safety of its members, as well as making benefits available that might otherwise be out of reach for many seniors. Accordingly, ASBA announced today that its members will now have access to dental coverage.

Beginning immediately, individual dental coverage will be available to ASBA members through Delta Dental Plan of Michigan, Inc. This new benefit will allow seniors to take a proactive approach to oral healthcare. Ignoring oral health can lead to gum disease, and poor oral health has been linked to cardiovascular illness, diabetes and a host of other health issues, many of which are of greater consequence to members of the baby boomer population.

Unlike many healthcare plans, the Delta Dental Individual Plan endorsed by ASBA, does not necessitate that seniors see only those dentists that participate in a network of participating providers. Instead, seniors are free to visit their own dentists; however discounts will be greater when visiting a Delta Dental PPO dentist.

"At ASBA, we know that oral health presents a special challenge to seniors since Medicare coverage generally does not contain a dental care component," said Bill Hill, Sr., President and Chairman of the Board of ASBA. "Many seniors will visit their dentists on a less frequent basis simply because they cannot afford to incur the cost that a trip to the dentist would bring. The introduction of Delta Dental to our suite of benefits will open up an option for seniors to get the care they need."

The Delta Dental Individual Plan offered to ASBA members features competitive rates, low deductibles and high annual limits, as well as benefits designed specifically for seniors such as coverage for accidental dental injury. For more information, visit the ASBA website at www.asbaonline.org. Products are not available in all states or jurisdictions.

The American Senior Benefits Association (ASBA) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit association where membership is completely free. ASBA is committed to lifestyle enhancement through benefits, advocacy and education for the over-50 population. ASBA concentrates its efforts on the issues that are of greatest concern to its members. Through its partners and programs, ASBA members receive news and information, product and service discounts, as well as other benefits. Current ASBA membership stands at over 600,000 nationally.
