ASBA Members Can Rest Assured When Traveling Thanks to ASBA's MedjetAssist
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Chicago, IL - March 10, 2010 - The American Senior Benefits Association (ASBA), today announced the addition of MedjetAssist to its ever-growing suite of member products.
ASBA's MedjetAssist is a medical evacuation membership program that helps seniors and their families by arranging for medical transport to a hospital of the member's choice in case of illness or injury while traveling 150 miles from home — domestically or while traveling abroad. ASBA's MedjetAssist will arrange for either commercial repatriation with a medical escort or medical evacuation via dedicated aircraft and medical crew onboard in route. The protection is for personal or business travel and can be extended to include the member's spouse or partner and up to five children under the age of 23.
"Many people travel these days for business and for pleasure, and many members have homes in areas away from their primary residences," said Bill Hill, President and Chairman of the Board of ASBA. "It's possible that they may at some point suffer an injury that requires in-patient care. Knowing that the health facility of their choice is easily accessible in case of emergency helps our members rest easy when traveling."
While medical evacuation can range in cost from $25,000 to $100,000, ASBA members under the age of 75 can purchase MedjetAssist membership for $235 annually for an individual, or $365 for family membership. There are out of pocket costs for the services arranged through MedjetAssist and no deductibles, co-payments or claim forms to complete. Membership is available via separate application for those age 75+.
Unlike travel accident insurance and platinum card benefits, with ASBA's MedjetAssist, the protection is NOT simply to the "nearest appropriate facility" and there are no health questions to enroll under the age of 75. Likewise, there are no exclusions for medical evacuation related to adventure travel, natural disasters or terrorism, nor are there dollar caps on the benefits provided. Peace of mind. Take trips. Not chances.
