New Vision Discount Program Helps Seniors See
a Better Future

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Chicago, IL - March 12, 2012 - The American Senior Benefits Association (ASBA) today announced a partnership with VSP that will allow ASBA members to receive substantial discounts on vision services.

In many instances, rising healthcare costs have forced seniors to forego the care they need. The new Vision Care Discount Program offered by ASBA will help members to more easily afford eye exams and LASIK vision correction surgery by offering these services at a discount. This new program is not insurance coverage, but is instead a discount program, administered by Careington, that allows members to save between 15% and 35% on eye exams. In addition, members can save money on eyeglasses, including lenses and frames.

VSP is the nation's largest eye care provider, with over 41,000 points of care existing in both retail and medical locations.

LASIK vision correction can allow for greater freedom for those who regularly wear eyeglasses or contacts. The Vision program provides savings of up to 40-50% off the average LASIK costs. Additional LASIK features include a free preliminary consultation; pre- and post-operative care appointments with your chosen physician; experienced surgeons who have performed over 1.5 million vision correction surgeries; and board-certified ophthalmologists using state-of-the-art vision correction technologies. The LASIK benefit is offered through a network of 850 providers. An interest-free financing plan is available to qualified members.

The need for seniors to obtain vision care at a reasonable cost is what drove ASBA to add the Vision Care discount program to the portfolio of benefits available to ASBA members.

"We want to make sure that our members always have access to the best healthcare possible," said Bill Hill, Sr., ASBA President and Chairman of the Board. "If there are products out there that will help them save a little money while taking care of their health needs, we want to help connect them to those products."
